Look out your window. What do you see? Could the handwriting on the dusty glass, the mirror of our lives, be any clearer? Look out the window of your heart. What do you see? If you dare to look at Gaza, if you dare to look at Ukraine, if you dare to look at the last thirty years in the Global South, it is evident that we are at the end of time. Or will you choose to be blind? If so, you certainly do not have to continue reading here. I offer no rosy colored glasses.
This is the Season of the Crone. Now is the exact moment when patriarchy and colonialism must end. It is now or never. And it is your voice that makes the difference. It is your daring, your courage, that makes the difference.
The lyrics to “The Season of the Witch” by Lana Del Ray say, “You’ve got to pick up every stitch.” When I harness that phrase for The Season of the Crone, I hear an incentive to leave no stone unturned, to allow no distraction to convince me otherwise, to keep my confidence and my intuition turned on present mode ceaselessly. It is entirely possible to do this and be relaxed, flexible, resilient. This is the art of compassion that I speak of in my book, The Secret of Resilience. It is how we end up walking on the bridge to the future, celebrating rather than mourning The Season of the Crone.
Just as a sprained limb after an accident finds its new tensegrity, so do we, women of the world, find our voices after the centuries of wounding we have endured. Now is when we bounce back. Now is when we step into the driver’s seat for the humanity we have birthed, no longer sitting, silent and fawning, in the passenger seat.
This is The Season of the Crone. I am not going to ask if you are ready. I am going to declare it. It must be, it absolutely must be, The Season of the Crone. Our voices are the difference between a descent into chaos, already revealing itself, or a rising up to the true civilization that Margaret Mead identified with compassionate, healing action.
Journalist Rachel Donald, who reports on poly crisis, is one of the few who admits that we are in collapse and who proposes actions that prepare us for what is obvious if we just look out our windows. She also says that the critical change makers are women.
“When women lead, climate crisis is averted, as the data shows. And because women are not leading enough, climate disaster is not being averted, and it won’t be until women lead.”

The Season of the Crone
I stand at the gateway to the end of a civilization
That has degraded itself.
I am not defined by that failure.
I am myself and I am whole in the
Wisdom borne of my lived experience.
I embody the life-giving Mother.
I am obligated only to my alignment with Her.
I initiate the Return of the Crone in my cells, my words,
My actions, and my undying Original Brilliance.
I am the victory of compassion.
I am an emissary from the Motherhood of Humanity.
I define my integrity.
I am my own validation.
I am my own reward.
I wait for no one.
I am the Crone.
The Sixth Extinction for sure...
I agree it is time to take back the reins... it is hard some days to stay grounded and focused.
I fee like we're synching again! I posted the following in threads yesterday...
"We are in the midst of degeneration...how do we reconcile and keep sane during this dismantling? How can we be pro active without adding to the mileu?
It feels like we're being collectively dragged from one epoch to another...how do we take back the reins so we may flow, float and glide?'
